The first stop of the day will be "Bloody Omaha" with two stops, elements of the German Atlantic Wall: the famous WN 62 strong point, one of the main German defenses on omaha beach where the Big Red One division landed and the second strong point WN72 located on the dog sector that had to face the first wave of assault, the 29th Division.
You will be able to watch the remains of the artificial port of Omaha called Mulberry A. Naturally, a stop at the American cemetery Omaha Beach is to honor the memory of the 10,000 American soldiers buried or missing in battle. Inside the cemetery and if the weather is not so good, you also have the option to visit the Visitor Centre presenting some stories, artifacts, narrative texts, photos, films and interactive exhibitions giving a more human dimension to the bloodied Bloody Omaha necropolis.
After lunch, the visit will continue at the German coastal battery of Pointe du Hoc, the only place where huge craters are still visible due to naval and aerial bombardment. 225 rangers bravely climbed the 100-foot cliffs to capture the 6 guns. They were released a day and a half after intense fighting with the Germans.
