Les tarifs des taxis sont réglementés et fixés chaque année par arrêté préfectoral dans chaque département. Il ne s'agit cependant pas d'un tarif imposé, mais d'un tarif maximal. Le principe du prix forfaitaire est interdit ; le prix de la course doit être calculé selon la distance parcourue, ou le temps passé si la vitesse est moindre.

Délivrance d'une facture
Suivant l'arrêté préfectoral n° 2013002-0002 du 2 janvier 2013 : la délivrance d'une facture est obligatoire pour les courses supérieures ou égales à 25€ TTC et sur demande pour les courses inférieures à 25€ TTC.
A la demande du client, il peut être ajouté, son nom, le lieu de départ et celui d'arrivée.

Issue of an invoice
According to the prefectural decree n° 2013002-0002 of January 2, 2013: the delivery of an invoice is compulsory for the races higher or equal to 25€ TTC and on request for the races lower than 25€ TTC.

Article L3121-1: "Taxis are motor vehicles comprising, in addition to the driver's seat, a maximum of eight seats, fitted with special equipment and an electronic payment terminal and whose owner or operator holds a parking permit on the public highway, pending customers, in order to carry out, at the latter's request and for a fee, the private transport of persons and their luggage.
Chaque véhicule doit être obligatoirement équipé à l'intérieur d'un taximètre (ou compteur horokilométrique), qui enregistre le parcours et indique le tarif pratiqué et la somme à payer. Le cadran du taximètre doit être lisible pour les passagers. Il doit être éclairé. Une information par affichette apposée dans le véhicule doit indiquer les conditions de la prise en charge. Un dispositif lumineux fixé sur le toit du véhicule doit porter la mention « Taxi » et indiquer sa commune de rattachement.
It is compulsory for every vehicle to be fitted with a taximeter (or time meter) inside, which records the journey and indicates the fare charged and the amount to be paid. The dial of the taximeter must be legible to passengers. It should be illuminated. A notice in the vehicle should indicate the conditions of the pick-up. A lighted device fixed to the roof of the vehicle must bear the words "Taxi" and indicate the commune in which it is located.
