Description
Omaha beach – The US cemetery – The German Battery Pointe du Hoc (the Ranger Memorial)

Explore with your licensed driver-guide the details of Overlord operation and discover key American D-day sites and the different divisions (Infantry, Navy, Airforce, Support) involved in the landing of Omaha and the capture of the german coastal battery of Pointe du Hoc. During that highly personalised tour, your guide will give you some full explanations to better understand what went wrong and what went right for each battlefield site. By the end of your visit, you will understand the strategic choices for the Allied invasion of Normandy and you will feel that you have proudly fulfilled your duty of remembrance by paying tribute to all those young men who sacrificed themselves to save France, Europe and the world.

You will start your day with « Bloody Omaha » to explore the remains of the German Atlantic Wall (tobroucks, bunkers, casemates …) where the first assault waves : the Rangers, the Big Red One and the 29th divisions landed in different sectors (Charlie, Dog, Easy and Fox). You will also be able to observe the remains of the artificial harbour of Omaha called Mulberry A.

Naturally, a stop at the American cemetery overlooking Omaha Beach is planned in order to honour the memory of the 10,000 American soldiers buried or missing in action.

The tour will end at the German battery of Pointe du Hoc, the only place where huge craters are still visible due to naval and aerial bombardments. 225 rangers bravely climbed up the 100 feet cliffs to capture the 6 guns. They will be encircled by the Germans and liberated a day and a half after intense fighting.

We can also customize other sectors : Gold, Sword and Juno in half day.
