Description

Omaha Beach - U.S. Cemetery and Visitor Center - German Battery Pointe du Hoc (The Ranger Memorial) - The German cemetery La Cambe‎

Explore with your authorized driver the details of Operation Overlord and discover the main American D-Day sites and the various divisions (infantry, navy, air force, support) involved in landing in the Omaha are. During this highly personalized tour, your guide will give you some complete explanations to better understand what happened and what is good for each battlefield site. At the end of your visit, you will understand the strategic choices for the Allied invasion of Normandy and feel that you have proudly fulfilled your duty of remembrance by paying tribute to all those young men who sacrificed themselves to save France, Europe and the world.‎

‎The next stop will be Bloody Omaha"with two stops, elements of the German Atlantic Wall: the famous WN 62 strong point, one of the main German defenses on omaha beach where the Big Red One division landed‎ ‎and the second strong point WN72 located on the dog sector that had to face the first wave of assault , the 29th Division. You will be able to observe the remains of the artificial harbour of Omaha called Mulberry A.

Naturally, a stop at the American cemetery Omaha Beach is to honor the memory of the 10,000 American soldiers buried or missing in battle. Inside the cemetery and if the weather is not so good, you also have the option to visit the Visitor Centre presenting some stories, artifacts, narrative texts, photos, films and interactive exhibitions giving a more human dimension to the bloodied Bloody Omaha necropolis.

‎After lunch, the visit will continue at the German Pointe du Hoc Battery, the only place where huge craters are still visible due to naval and aerial bombardment. 250 rangers bravely climbed the 100-foot cliffs to capture the 4 guns. They were released a day and a half after intense fighting with the Germans.‎

‎In the end, a visit to the German cemetery is planned because it was in the early days first an American field hospital along the N13 before becoming a cemetery for American and German soldiers. In 1947, the bodies of American soldiers were transferred to the new Cemetery at Omaha Beach. Those of the Germans stayed there. Today, 21,000 graves are in this cemetery. You have the oil tanker Ace Michael Wittman buried there when his tank was discovered by accident in the 1980s or the worst Nazi criminal in France called Adolf Dieckman who killed 642 children, women and men by setting fire to a church and barn in the village of Oradour-sur-Glane.‎
